"Do No Harm" Organization to Protect Children from the Dangers of Transgender Medicine

Profile in Valor: Former Professor of Medicine and Dean, Dr. Stanley Goldfarb
28

By Peter A. McCullough, MD, MPH

I sat down with former Professor of Medicine and Dean of the University of Pennsylvania School of Medicine Dr. Stanley Goldfarb to discuss the transgender crisis and the use of puberty blockers, hormones, and surgery in children to treat gender dysphoria. I have known Stan for decades as an academic nephrologist. I can tell you his ethics and precision with the data have not changed. What has changed is a sweeping groupthink in academic medicine and its societies including the Endocrine Society and the American Association of Pediatrics. These groups have developed and driven a very strong support for gender change in young persons including children before puberty. Here is what Dr Moira Szilagyi, MD, PhD, FAAP, said after the 2022 AAP Leadership Conference:

“There is strong consensus among the most prominent medical organizations worldwide that evidence-based, gender-affirming care for transgender children and adolescents is medically necessary and appropriate. It can even be lifesaving. The decision of whether and when to start gender-affirming treatment, which does not necessarily lead to hormone therapy or surgery, is personal and involves careful consideration by each patient and their family.”
