Matthew Perry: Emperor of Drug Dunces
Autopsy report reveals panoply of substances in his body.
Drug addicts, especially young ones, are conformists flocking together in sticky groups … nor is there anything more philistine, more bourgeois, more ovine than this business of drug duncery. Half a century ago, a similar fashion among the smart set of St. Petersburg was cocaine sniffing combined with phony orientalities. The better and brighter minds of my young American readers are far removed from those juvenile fads and faddists. I also used to know in the past a Communist agent who got so involved in trying to wreck anti-Bolshevist groups by distributing drugs among them that he became an addict himself and lapsed into a dreamy state of commendable metempsychic sloth.
I thought of this harsh pronouncement by the Russian ex-pat author, Vladimir Nabokov, when I read the LA County Medical Examiner’s autopsy report for Matthew Langford Perry. Toxicology revealed that his body contained significant amounts of the opioid substitutes buprenorphine and ketamine. The autopsy also revealed extensive organ damage from a lifetime of drug abuse.
We live in a permissive culture with large reserves of tolerance and sympathy for talented celebrities like Matthew Perry who struggle with drug addiction. I believe this is a terrible mistake and that the proper attitude to recreational drug use is the withering contempt expressed by Vladimir Nabokov.
Why so harsh and unforgiving? Because young people MUST be educated to understand that there is nothing cool, groovy, hip, amusing, charming, or even remotely forgivable about using drugs.
Without equivocation, young people must be equipped with the stark and vivid understanding that drug addicts are contemptible, pathetic fools who destroy their minds and bodies, cause unrelenting sorrow for those who care about them, burden our society and cities, and finance the most cruel and ruthless criminal syndicates in history.
As the British journalist Peter Hitchens stated in a debate with Matthew Perry on the BBC ten years ago:
It doesn’t do anybody any favors to try to be nice to drug-takers. If you want to stop people from becoming drug users, then the best thing to do is to make sure they never start in the first place.
Matthew Perry had it all—talent, wit, charm, intelligence, and good looks. He could have done great things with his life well beyond his extraordinary youthful success with Friends. Instead, he rationalized being a Drug Dunce by adopting the attitude that there was nothing he could do about it.
The "drugs" were found in trace amounts and he was being prescribed low dose ketamine to treat depression. The buprenorphine is an addiction treatment and therefore also did not kill him. The cardiac arrest however caused by taking the so called "vaccine" however did kill him. The MSM have bent the truth so far it's now 100% bull...
Sounds like you believe in beatings, too. No one learns from harshness. I worked with drug addicts there in Dallas. A thankless job but I would never change the time I gave to that endeavor. They were young. Abused. Lost. And once hooked, next to impossible to rescue. None of the fool drugs we use to “help” them work. The ones who climb out are rare and give some hope.....maybe to others. Mostly it’s false hope. Once hooked, you will struggle for life to get unhooked and stay that way. We need to go back to better, more engaged parenting without abuse. We need to get the programming out of our schools that leave kids lost and vulnerable to the predators that suck them in. We need honest leaders at all levels of government as well as in the churches, media, schools and corporations. Those places where kids are getting programmed. It’s not a simplistic “it’s not cool to do this” sort of thing. It’s adults and programed youth by adults who know how to manipulate vulnerable young people. The drug lords and our sick, corrupted government - including the medical community - who deserve our contempt. Not the kids - including the rock stars who are also kids - who just don’t know who to believe in anymore. Go into downtown Dallas or south Dallas for a few nights and sit with those street kids. Keep your thoughts to yourself. Just be quiet and sit and listen and watch. You’ll need to carry for protection and don’t look too affluent and don’t sound like you “want to help” since that will make you a target and they can see through that last bit and know how to manipulate your emotions to get a few bucks off of you. But you need to know the people you are babbling about before deciding “what needs to be done.” You need to KNOW.
