The older I get the more I realize that all governments are more similar than not. What has helped Americans withstand our government is the Bill of Rights. Which they are constantly chipping away at.

The old adage that power corrupts and absolute power corrupts absolutely is so true. These guys never stop trying for absolute power.

If I may add to your comment; Supreme Court cases such as Citizens' United and Buckley v. Valeo have given the wealthy and their corporations overwhelming prerogative to "buy" the best government they need for their own private, often nefarious (not in the interest of the Average American) purposes and intentions.

This is what 40 years of faux "conservatives" (really capitalist shills) have done to America. Stolen it from the people and sold it off to the highest bidder.

I absolutely agree. Amazingly, I thought I was awake by June 2020, but I have learned so much since then. It doesn't matter who we "elect" - it's all the same. Now we are in deep doodoo.
