"The Outrageous Persecution of Julian Assange"
U.S. Deep State presses to extradite its Australian nemesis
Back in 2010, when Wikileaks published half a million documents relating to the U.S. government’s idiotic wars in Afghanistan and Iraq, I predicted it was just a matter of time before Julian Assange was accused of a crime and arrested.
Daniel Ellsberg and Seymour Hersh had gotten away with reporting U.S. military misadventures in Vietnam, but in 2010, I sensed that Assange—an Australian citizen who frequently traveled abroad—would probably end up in jail. By then, the U.S. Deep State had assumed the fearful symmetry of the ravenous wolf that it is today.
Sure enough, not long after the military documents were released, rape allegations surfaced in Sweden. Though the charges were initially dropped due to lack of evidence, a month later, Sweden’s chief prosecutor reopened them and issued an international arrest warrant for Assange.
Nine years later, the U.S government indicted Assange for charges relating to Wikileaks’s publication of classified documents. Now the U.S. government is pressing for his extradition from the United Kingdom.
The Mises Institute just published a splendid essay titled The Outrageous Persecution of Julian Assange. I highly recommend reading it.
Another innocent man like he J6 protesters. They ruined his life for telling the truth.
Despicable and callous. You'd think Julian had suffered enough and the Australian Govt should be demanding his release and absolution and encourage his return to Australia.., the fact that they are not shows how callous they are too.
