Maybe you should have done this interview IN FRONT of a paywall if you want people to watch it.

Keep moving, nothing to see here... "helicopter" reporting by self-promoting people with no real interest or connection to Lahaina except for the money they can make from staged outrage.

John's initial reporting and interviews did a really good job covering this tragedy.

Land grabs are are not the reason this happened. It's a result of what happened, just like anywhere that becomes "economically depressed" and therefore a good opportunity to "buy low".

The causes are most likely due to age-old reasons, such as bureaucracy, "it can't happend to us" mentality, political incompetence/intransigence, reaction instead of proaction, and general human failings. No wild reasoning is needed to explain things.

Truly sad, and not unique or all that extraordinary. Far worse happens all around the world quite often, outside of our normal view.

Aloha koʻu puʻuwai i nā poʻe o Lahaina...

Um, local bureaucrats created circular fires (in high winds?) all by themselves?

I want information on where the children are.

Same place as those in Gaza.

Where?

Under the rubble. Or do you need to know where Gaza is?

Give my regards to Rosemary Minervini who wrote incomprehensible and overly broad chemical patent applications; according to the US Patent Office, practically Markush.

I want information, not opinion. Especially from an idiot.

So in addition to being a Retired Chemical Patent Attorney (Does that mean "idiot"?), you're also a forensic detective, and have dug through the ashes of Lahaina? Do you even know what a Markush patent is? Watch the other 3 fingers when pointing.

You're the one who said they're in the ashes under the gravel, not I. You don't know for sure. I'm asking if anyone knows for sure. That means proof. Goodbye.

Oddly enough, as I watch the College Maui Invitational they are paying tribute to the “Maui Strong” islanders with practically not a peep mention of any facts and data of WTF happened there? Has everyone lost all curiosity and sold out....

It's only a Trailer, come back when your prepared to tell the story

More questions than the irrefutable facts can answer.

WHAT IS GOING TO HAPPEN TO LAHAINA is equally disturbing, as the long-term agenda to build back better and SMARTER has been in the works for years. It's no secret the DoD (and other agencies) have a Cray in the Maui Research and Technology Park in Kihei.

Are these things correlated? "Things that make you go HMMMMM..."

I understand the need for revenue, but these teasers where one would have to buy yet another subscription to view the video are, you should know, frustrating. I guess those with the most $ get to view, read, and comment. You’ve basically turned this post into an advertisement. You’re blocking a lot of folks from information. And you’re only getting the views of those with more wealth. Oh, well.

I have been following Hawaii real estate on YouTube documented by Eric West. Very informative and heart wrenching. He is trying to get people to come over to investigate.

Thank you John, for sharing an update on this. I hope you'll still write more about it though!

If one tries to get any information about the Lahaina fire......google or on Duck Duck Go, interestingly so, the only resources that emerge are from New York Times, BBC, CNN, the Guardian, the Atlantic....etc.

hmmm......very interesting.

I literally tried to search through endless articles but those are the ones that only come up.

Interesting.

I’m no fire science expert-but based on location and environment, being a town not in middle of trees, and next to water- how is it people did not have time to get to safety? How did the fire burn so quickly and suddenly? Typically fire warnings give enough time to at least evacuate folks (I know this well from areas such as Tahoe area of California etc....)

I’m just totally flabbergasted at how this happened? Not to minimize tragedy, or those that honestly risked their safety to help those in need....this honestly is like a what the hell happened moment and no one is talking about it anymore.

It is like yet another one of those things that tragically happened in the last 4 years that everyone just agrees is tragic, but then skirt the obvious. Move along nothing to see here folks.

No doubt the fire response was mis-handled with tragic consequences but the reporting i saw from JFKjr substack described the underlying causes of the rapid spread and severity rather convincingly.

To those readers who keep popping up with super secret high tech conspiracies about lasers or weapons testing - please show you understand the basics about dry tinder and land management and greed first, and second show why those arent sufficient to exacerbate the wildfires that happen around the globe every day.
