I mean… As much as you should never underestimate the plans of the shadowy forces that pull the levers behind the curtain, may I propose another and far more likely solution?

Namely: Harvard is full of retards, and we’re still stuck in clown world.

TS is a version of gangster rap for immature females, preying on the same emotions as rap does, and with the same basic message. Be angry, resentful and serve only yourself.

Harvard canonizing this isn't the mark of retards, its the mark of Marxists doing what they always do, destroying tradition and stoking resentment. If you're going to spread a mind virus, you need multiple vectors, and that's what TS does in her own not quite so small way.

Such a shallow act by Harvard. Her lyrics are meaningless (teenage rants), especially in a world with impeding WWIII approaching. Harvard is no longer an institution to be taken seriously. I have lost all respect for the Ivy League institutions.

Canon. Sacred. Understanding the profane in terms of the sacred at least acknowledges the sacred exists, even if their postmodern deconstruction of ‘sacred’ creates a hollow form without the power to transform.

Every day I am increasingly grateful for my 21 year old son’s decisions, and this article makes me more so. There is hope! Hampden-Sydney College was the only school he would apply to, and he is a fellow Philosophy major like you, John! As I write this, he is on fall break in Paris, sitting at the Bibliothèque nationale de France/Richelieu, for which he made a pilgrimage to see. The only reading he took with him for travel was Romeo and Juliet… 🙏🏻

As a stalwart proponent of STEM education, I took the opportunity to review STEM offerings at Hampden-Sydney College. I must say I am impressed with what I found. It appears your son made a wise choice.

Oh, thank you for saying that! We’ve been incredibly impressed thus far, and our son adores it.

I know Frank Zappa is gone.

But his words and thoughts are a far better choice to educate the public on what's really real!!

Her shelf life has an expiation date. Take the money and run kid. Dolly Parton tells better tales.

Love the pun ("expiation"). And Dolly Parton does indeed tell better tales. Dolly in a woman. Taylor is a girl stuck at 15.

Except Dolly was complicit in pushing experimental injections as well. Lost all respect for her. Her part may have been small, but she was still complicit in the crime against humanity. No one involved should be getting a pass

ALL of these Hollyweird elitist are ALL inverted illuminati Freemason Baphomet worshippers! That is the God they worship! Baphomet is part man, part woman and part goat. That is why they are pushing transgerism on the children! Hollyweird and the elite have been practicing it for hundreds of years including royalty. It's permiated everywhere, sports, the media, the music industry. Symbolism will be their downfall. They're not even hiding it anymore! Do some digging!! 👹

But I thought Romeo and Juliet was not a love story.

Love looks not with the eyes but with the mind;

And therefore is winged Cupid painted blind.

Nor hath Love’s mind of any judgment taste.

Wings, and no eyes, figure unheedy haste.

And therefore is Love said to be a child

Because in choice he is so oft beguiled.

As waggish boys in game themselves forswear,

So the boy Love is perjured everywhere.

Dolly does tell a much better tale. You are spot on. So did Johnny Cash with Ring of Fire and Willie Nelson/Patsy Cline with Crazy.

Using Taylor Swift as sacred music at a church service! Good lord they have gone mad.

Yeah we seem to be on a bad roller coaster ride of the learning curve with the young lady Pop Stars. Candle in the wind was a number one song from elton John. The dude simply went back to the Marilyn mindset that never fades.🎢🔐

What the strange and shadowy overlords who pull the levers on popular culture do not want is families and household formation. Heterosexual marriage is therefore the target. It is to be euthanized. There has been an all out, 360 degree attack on it since Betty Friedan published The Feminine Mystique in 1963.

Anti-children, anti-heterosexuality, pro-Taylor Swift, pro-abortion, pro-homosexuality, pro-transexuality (sterilizes), pro-mRNA spike proteins accumulating in the testes and ovaries, pro-depopulation. Could there be a pattern?

Agreed! A 34 yo singing songs as if she’s 19 is backwards. Teenagers liking this music is normal but adult women (30s/40s/50s) paying thousands to see her is a warning sign that something is off in the world. My daughter worked with a woman around 40ish. She planned a family vacation w/her kids around attending swift’s concerts in different cities. I don’t know if there is a husband but if there is he’s not functioning. Btw - many big artists have been propped up/promoted to influence society so no surprise that swift is one (why else would you choose to live so miserably!)

Words have power, and they can manifest physically. Have you ever seen the ice crystals that form when a person speaks the word love or hate to the water? One forms a beautiful symmetrical snowflake crystal, the other an ugly blob. So many young people speaking/singing of broken loves and relationships will manifest just that...and yes, goes well with the de-pop agenda.

Strange I think they don’t want marriage and families. Went into Verizon store needed a block and charger. The guy saw I had a ring on asked how long I was married “if I might ask he said”. I said 28 years. He began to talk about how it isn’t the same after awhile and then having kids makes the relationship change. How people get divorced after time they find someone new before or during marriage they both get divorced and marry again only to find it doesn’t last. Love as a young person is so different than love as you grow older. Unfortunately people don’t like the change of feelings and so they change their heart. Our society has morphed into anti marriage, change your marriage as you change your job. We aren’t teaching children how to make it last- or commitment. Very sad. This guy I felt badly for because it was obvious he is tired of minding kids, being with same woman, and as he talked about bills and running kids everywhere he was not happy in life. Simple things in life that bring pleasure are lost somewhere. 🙏

Nothing new here. When I was at the University of Texas in the late 60s, a rising young professor of English offered a course studying the lyrics of the Beatles. And as a true old timer, to me at least some the Beatle' lyrics made sense and approximated poetry.

The Beatles wrote lyrics that celebrated love. "Michelle," And I love her," "Something." What we are seeing with T.S. is a celebration of anger, frustration, bitterness, and even cynicism about love. Regards, John Leake

At the risk of sounding ancient and uptight, lol, my observation has been that the women's movement/feminism has had the unfortunate effect of training females to "sell themselves cheap," for lack of a better phrase. The way young women speak, dress, and behave with young men is low brow. They degrade themselves and allow themselves to be degraded by entertaining serial bed partners.

It's against the natural order of things for women to sleep around, and while my guess is most young women today don't realize it or won't admit it if they do, "dating like a man" is extremely destructive to the feminine heart and psyche. The anger, frustration, and bitterness reflected in Swift's lyrics is one outcome.

It’s one thing to study lyrics in a course, but elevating pop music into “sacred” status in a church is very strange. But then it is Harvard-America is really becoming weirder every day.

Harvard used to put out some fabulous and brilliant people, but they've been infiltrated with professors trained by Columbia's Herbert Marcuse, Frankfurt's cultural Marxist and proponent of critical theory. So what Harvard now produces is a bunch of brainless communists ready to control the masses with DEI and full blown Marxism. Clowns? Yes, but those clowns are like Stephen King's "IT" clown, they are killers.
