We the people have allowed corruption to get swept under the rug for so long that it has flourished. Perhaps the first major turning point was the JFK assassination, is it really plausible that this mystery could not get solved? Since then multiple wars have been fought with known corruption and falsehoods, major economic failures have occurred with known corruption and falsehood, and not once has there been any accountability. The result has been that morality has been crippled and those willing to do immoral work have felt more freedom to do their work. I hope that the fact COVID impacted nearly everyone, we wake up and demand truth, answers, and most importantly, accountability.

We've certainly come a long way from the $400,000 ($7 million in present-day dollars) bribe to get oil leases on federal land in 1921 (the Teapot Dome Scandal). It appears that the US government has never been as "criminal" as it is now, though.
