Spot on. America is the land of the euphemism, where we watch the English language being put through gymnastic jumps and hoops like Olga Korbut on speed. Wetbacks - illegals - undocumented - migrants - voters. Words are coded ciphers. Loyal Party Members know the script. Meanings are arbitrary. "Equity", "Diversity", "Inclusion" mean "Not White, Not Male, Not American". Meanwhile, the Feudal Lords and Ladies like the Bidens, Gavin, AOC, Pelosi live their blessed lives. The Court scribes and Jesters of the Media write history anew every day.

There will be a reckoning. Which is why they are trying to start WW3.

Interesting to recall that the devil is known as the father of lies. I suspect that means he

is the father of liars also. Very important to note the source of all this lying and confusion

I read Politics and the English Language my senior year of high school. I still refer to it today because it struck such a cord in me. Brilliant analysis and it’s the truth, as anyone can see when the facts sit in front of their eyes. Thank you for digging the essay out of the dust and presenting again.

Vocabulary distortion has never been worse than today: https://www.wildhorsewisdom.xyz/p/whats-in-a-name?r=31a4ti&utm_campaign=post&utm_medium=web. We need to urgently retract a whole list of terms, such as 'misinformation,' 'democratic institutions,' 'gender-affirming care' or 'decolonization.'

I think about liars and lying often because our view of the person does a 180 when we feel the emotional impact of deceit. Children manipulate and lie as a matter of course; it seems like a natural reflex to get needs met in the moment. Yet, when a child lies, it is easy to forgive, and it doesn't hurt. I believe that children need to be taught to share and to be honest which means delaying gratification. Honesty is a habit. Lying is a very destructive habit and a sign of immaturity. Intelligent adults can rationalize their dishonesty to the point where the justifications are convincing to others and themselves. I don't see how they can sleep at night otherwise. An old book but a pertinent book is 'People of the Lie' by Scott Peck. He really drives home the point of the evil that lies in the deceit of denial and the deceit in manipulation. I think manipulation occurs in almost every human interaction, whereas not everyone blatantly lies to our face. People engage in image management which involves omission of truth, they design sentences in a manner that will garner the results they want. 'Oh, I won't say that because if I do, they will think this, and I don't want them to think that etc.....' It is all manipulation which is deceit which is a form of lying. It takes a willingness to forego getting what you want in the moment for the long-term gain of integrity by being transparent, by not having a motive behind your questions or statements. I don't think it is completely black and white in rare occasions lying may be the safest response. Also, a baiting actor can leverage honesty for their gain, boxing someone into a position where they elicit the desired information, when the other is forced to deflect or divulge private information. What I notice in politics today is that the media does not call out blatant lies, and there are no consequences, everyone seems to gloss over the crime and so it continues. How can society leverage up via denialism, deceptive impression management, and slippery tongues. That philosophy has translated into the reality that millions of young people are ticking time bombs with sub clinical cardiac damage that can manifest at any moment. To me autism due to environmental toxins, vaccine harms, covid damage and censorship is the holocaust of our time. The way the political system works, there is little vetting that weeds out smooth talkers and those who financially profit from lack of transparency. There are many potential leaders with integrity that will never get their foot in the door.

The first paragraph sounds just like Komrad Harris. During the “debate” she said she is a gun owner. David Webb asked an excellent question, please pass this on far and wide: Did she lie on her Federal form to get her gun? Remember how Hunter Biden was convicted of a felony for lying about his drug use on that form. Harris has said that she has smoked marijuana and cackled when she said that she “did inhale.” We need access to that Fed form she filled out. Is there an investigative reporter willing to find it and make it available to the public before too many people have voted? Also, in the debate, Harris complained that Trump would impose a “national sales tax” in the form of tariffs that will take effect next week. Well, golly gee, turns out the Harris-Biden administration is going to impose tariffs on EVs and many other items coming from China. Will she admit that her administration is also imposing a “national sales tax?” She seems to agree with Trump on a number of his policies.

Correction, meant to say Harris complained about Trump imposing “national sales tax” in the form of tariffs but Harris-Biden will be imposing a “national sales tax” in the form of tariffs on EVs and many other things that will begin next week.

What a wonderful concise collection of thoughts! We all, bit by bit, lose heart when we are surrounded by lies, masquerading as "truth," twisting the meaning of truth so much that we all begin to lose heart. Not a good feeling. And ultimately, we can become confused about what we value anyhow. So these passages remind us of the true way...

Soon we will all know the truth. I hope they loop it over and over on the EBS. We need total transparency.

"The great enemy of clear language is insincerity. When there's a gap between one's real and one's declared aims"

Biden (spoken at his inaugural address) and Harris (spoken at this week's presidential debate)

"I want to be a unifier of the people. I want to bring people together (not to divide them)" .... well, that's all this administration has done (is to divide people!) This administration has name-called and disparaged at least 1/2 the Country and has colluded and censored anyone who doesn't follow its party lines on everything... This is NOT Democracy!!

I believe a lot iof us will be united in the end but not because of anything they do. I think there are people on both sides who want to live together in peace and not hate each other. I saw this video from Nicole Shanahan, RFK, Jr.’s running mate. I couldn’t believe it. It actually touched my heart and made me cry, and I was so grateful that they’ve joined our team. I’ve never heard a Dem say anything like this about us. It’s usually insults and hate. That’s changing. Thank you, Ms. Shanahan! https://x.com/NicoleShanahan/status/1834626556657803747

One of the “lying-variants” I find most infuriating is when political “actors” give themselves credit for “saying the right thing”, all the while having NO intention of DOING YHE RIGHT THING.

I think belief in God produces less deceit. Those who are degraded as being "religious" learned the Ten Commandments when young, and at least try to not be intentionally deceitful, and if we have been deceitful and hurt somebody, often we realize that, and we keep trying to do the next right thing. Progressive Democrats don't believe in God, so the Ten Commandments woukd seem to them as only stones for suckers.
