He's struggling to find a company that will sponsor his green card application. Yet millions who bypassed the legal system get free housing and cash every month.
I had to go through about a year and a half with the USCIS and State Dept. to get my foreign wife over here. She could not jump the border where she was (Asia).

All very good and decent points of view. I worked the ICE and Homeland security that did their hard jobs well under Trump. However, when b*den came into power, he handcuffed our law enforcement officers. I worked w many victims of crime who were happy to see their perpetrators deported! But under Biden that was changed so these criminals are still roaming and revictimizing their victims many of whom are ex spouses, family members and ex boyfriends. While there are millions of loving and patriotic people who only want a peaceful existence and a chance for happiness, even 1% of the criminals becomes thousands. Victims must be considered under the federal Crime Victims Act of 1994. These victims deserve our attention first and foremost.

Speaking from Europe I feel there is a problem. Like you I am not in favour of ‘othering’ people, but there is the question of a functioning and coherent society. One that has similar values and culture. And an infrastructure that can cope with the number of people.
And it is starting to creak big time. Overwhelmed services, not enough housing, people not embracing their new county’s values.
And unfortunately we cannot take all people who are worse off than us. There are so many countries that are poor, wars raging, authoritarian regimes.
I believe we do need to do something to make sure our country continues to function well. And it is currently not.

When my father immigrated there was no financial support. You worked or you starved.
He came here legally, learned the language and put himself through college.
I have a friend who is here on a temporary visa, attempting to get a green card through the legal process. His wife can't work and he is financially strapped. He's struggling to find a company that will sponsor his green card application. Yet millions who bypassed the legal system get free housing and cash every month.
I had to go through about a year and a half with the USCIS and State Dept. to get my foreign wife over here. She could not jump the border where she was (Asia).
