Savoy Declares Independence from France
Government Council bids adieux to the Republic of France
I just received a press release from the Government Council of the State of Savoie that it has declared independence from the Republic of France.
I am not sure what to make of this, given that I can’t find reports of it in the European press. Students of history may remember that the Treaty of Turin between France and Sardinia—annexing Nice and Savoie to France—was signed in 1860. The foreign ministers of Europe had a heated debate about this decision, and reading the transcript will likely confuse even the most knowledgeable scholar of European affairs during this period.
I am hoping to learn more about Savoy’s declaration of independence and will keep our readers posted.

Texas should follow suit, announcing that is once again The Republic of Texas. &c
