I have been reading about Ralph Baric for the past 3 years but have never seen him do a presentation. Thank you for providing. I try to be objective and understand many academics are a little "odd" and can, without being necessarily malicious, get focused on a single subject without seeing the "big picture". As an example, I worked as a research assistant in entomology for a professor who was experimenting with broadcasting endocrine disruptors to control mosquito populations. Needless to say, the ancillary environmental impacts shut that down pretty quickly. After watching Dr. Baric's presentation, I see two reasons not to trust him. First, he does the hair "swoop over", and second, he references Bill Gates as some kind of authority on infectious disease.
