In answer to the rhetorical question posed at the end of your comment: a community and culture that has come to consider abortion health care, that is on the verge (in Canada at least) prescribing Suicide as a treatment option for poverty, and has just finished putting private profits over public health and individual Constitutionally guaranteed freedoms for treating a virus with 99% survival rate even without known (but suppressed) effective care.

In other words one that is hell bent on committing cultural or actual suicide.

I grieve for my profession that it should have come to this.

Spot on. It really is a matter of cultural implosion. We have left mere immorality for amorality. Anything goes... We are in the last days of Empire and the vandals are not only within the gates,. but have already stripped out most things of value.

Please stop calling this “gender-affirming care.” Gender is a made academic term that has no meaningful definition. Sex is real. These procedures are sex-denying interventions. They are biology-denying interventions. They are mutilation procedures which. The specific physical outcomes are horrific. Please stop giving in on the language. The only thing these interventions affirm are delusions.

Agree: it is delusion-affirming harm.

You are spot on in your thinking. There has been way too much re-defining of words to date.

If you thought a twisted COV theater hammered out new meaning on decades old words,

You have a clear and precise proper and legal "best description" to what's taking shape.

And the mutilations left behind after surgery are horrific and serve no biological function.

The current rule in medical ethics:

Left to their own will, Drs have decided that which is profitable is ethical. e.g. untested, unlicensed, experimental COVID “vaccines” and genital mutilation of mentally ill, sexually confused minors. Take away government and insurance company funding for this medical malpractice and there would be no demand.

Your comment "The published data demonstrate “gender affirming” care does not cure gender dysphoria and it is sterilizing in ~80%." is an alarming wake-up call.

What kind of community or culture will this be if we sterilize the young and euthanize the old?

Dystopian.

As one attorney (in NY) I am now actively immersing myself in the literature of this field of "medicine" which, as a medical malpractice attorney of over 20 years, is the very worst I have seen in medicine. I am hoping to represent some suitable Plaintiffs in cases to have direct, local impact to expose and push back against some of the worst of the worst, e.g. physicians so clouded by ego, hubris and activism that they fail to respect the basic value of "First Do No Harm."

Oregon is trying to run the other direction with a stunningly horrible bill, HB2002, being shoved forward by left-wing politicians who did not even comprehend it's consequences.

However the conservative Senators to their credit, have walked out, risking their political futures, denying quorum. It is a huge battle on the front line of this dystopian topic, as this legislation makes all taxpayers fund these surgical procedures for all individuals 15 years of age regardless of residency, so, with neighboring states banning the practice, lots of confused and vulnerable teenagers and youth will wind up here, believing the lies that subjecting themselves to these experiments will make them happier. Nothing could be further from the truth, but confused, suffering young people are easy pray for pHarma and their minions..

I suggest that researchers begin to work harder on the root causes of this terrible problem. Perhaps we should be looking at the Primitive Human DNA contaminants in our bloated vaccine schedule? Glysophate? Endocrine disrupters? Ultrasound? Autism is often coupled with this problem and given the Epidemic of Autism we know it is environmental. Let's stop pandering to pHarma and the chemical and medical industries and finally get to the root cause(s)!

Two generations of America's kids is too much to allow these toxic industries to destroy.

Thank you for your thoughtful comments Katherine.

I am very interested in your suggestion of more research as I believe there likely is a cause for ‘identity’ confusion amongst young people.

As well as the possible causes you mentioned, I wonder about the societal influences/expectations, ie, what does it mean to be a man or a woman in today’s world?

What were the early childhood experiences of those in crisis? What was their relationship like with the same sex parent? We’re the parental relationships dysfunctional/trauma inducing?

I have long been concerned about the possible long term effects of ultrasound... is it even possible to have a large enough group of children who have not been exposed to ultrasound, for comparison?

So many questions... for our children’s sake, I hope answers are found soon.

I also believe work should be done to recognize more of the societal perspectives and family experiences that might be associated with children experiencing gender disphoria, it's timing and common duration, as well as psychological testing and hormonal profiles of those experiencing it. What if temporary hormonal swings could be a piece of the puzzle? Or other changes we may not recognize or understand yet?

And of course a child's relationship and experiences, positive and negative, with a parent of same or opposite sex, will influence their perception and acceptance of their own gender.

Simply put - this is child mutilation and should be treated by law enforcement at the harshest levels of penalties as a felony.. which in most states will remove a doctor's license and stop his insane behaviors. We used to require child molestors stay 1000 yards away from a school. Today we teach the children about pedophilia taught by drag queens.. in class! And let doctors molest children with permanent effects as noted. Where are the doctors who will testify as witnesses.. Stand up folks.. and help remove these cancers from our profession.

It's about time this horror is being outlawed in sane states. There seems no hope for us trapped in insane blue states dominated by crazy parents and doctors. I fear these will become trans destinations and sanctuaries until these barbaric practice can be outlawed on the federal level.

Why you continue using the misleading phrase "gender affirming care" is beyond me. The correct description is gender mutilation surgery.

Expand full comment

I also despise the term "gender affirming care." It's another wordplay tool of the left. Such "treatments" are neither "affirming" nor "care." Not to put too fine a point on it, but it also involves "puberty blocking" drugs and hormones, so it's not technically just surgery. I think "gender dysphoria medical malpractice" gets at the core of the thing.

No. They don’t believe they are benefitting a patient. It is all about the money, The operations needed can go up to $100K and then you have monthly injections of hormones for life which I think are about $3000/month. These kids become a cash cow. Remember the Phen fen clinics? These doctors were giving amphetamines for weight loss until it was found it caused Pulmonary hypertension and it was stopped. Weight loss is a big scam with some doctors. There are doctors who are more than willing to do liposuction, face lifts and other procedures after taking a weekend course. The only person I would trust is a Board Certified Plastic Surgeon. Unfortunately, there are a fair number of unscrupulous, unethical doctors out there. If they can find some way to make side money, especially cash, they will do it.

I'm not sure how and why this trend started. As I see it, young girls seem mostly affected as they enter the perils of teen years where they are trying to fit in as their body and emotions change drastically. We have always had tomboys and smiled as they became women. But somehow adults have entered the picture to suggest these children might be trans when in fact they might be asexual or female attracted but can't handle rejection. Further other adults advise parents that the teen troubles could lead to suicide unless drastic measures are taken and advise medical treatment. Clearly, this advice is misguided and ignores research but how and why has this been happening?

Young boys are fewer and face similar issues of puberty. Many are somewhat effeminate and don't fit in with the other boys. Again they are advised wrongly that they too are trans and need medical care. If anything these boys need help to avoid bullies and may even need self-defense training rather than surgery or hormones.

All of this suggests creation of a political wedge issue, trans, particularly pointed at the nuclear family. It preys on families with autistic children who often are more than difficult to manage. The trans craze for children needs to be refuted by professionals regardless of politics.
