Yes I agree, nasal sprays like providone mix or xclear appear to really make a difference. I use when traveling on planes or in large crowds- parties, funerals, church, weddings or at first sign of scratchy throat. That being said, I quickly do a preventive dose of ivermectin, D, C, zinc too. The combination really works. I just do not get sick anymore. I used to get sick after every flight and several colds a year. Not since doing this. Daily spray would be even better, but many days I work alone and outside. My husband refuses the nasal sprays and is on day 7 of a cold now...

I didn’t have a cold in 2024 and I don’t think I had one in 2023 either. last time I remember being sick was around New Year’s 2022, yet I do not use any of these nasal sprays or gargles.

Ms Strong, about 50% of subjects in the DEFENCE Study reported getting no colds during the study period. I have patients who like you are blessed and seem to avoid them altogether. Chances are you are in good health and have a healthy nasopharyngeal microbiome. As many of my followers know, in years past I was sick with a cold almost monthly. Now after six months of twice a day sprays and gargles, I have been free of viral illnesses. I will keep this up and see if I can match your 12 months URI free!

Also, to be fair, you are probably exposed to a lot more illness being a doctor than I am in my solitary life on the farm.

Glad to see you here responding to comments, doctor. But only one thing I’ll take issue with. I am not a she!

I don't regularly use nasal sprays but take several immune boosting supplements that seem to accomplish the same thing. I have been sick once in 7 years.

I do take a number of vitamins and minerals, including a multi-vitamin, plus vitamins, B12, C, D as well as zinc and magnesium

You prompted me to take a couple of sprays of Xclear in each nostril as I was out in public yesterday. I take Goldenseal, Andrographis and Echinecea to boost immune strength.

I suppose if I were out in public a lot it might be a good idea, but I don’t get around much anymore.

I have had no colds since I quit working in healthcare. I have used Xlear nasal spray for many years when my chronic post-nasal drip acts up. When I moved to a retirement home nearly 2 Yrs ago, I used the Xlear after every community meeting/gathering, gargle 3x a day after brushing my teeth, chew on Pur gum (contains Xylitol), regularly take Zn, C, vit D, bioflavonoids, turmeric and a few other things. Never took COVID jab, but fellow residents jabbed up the wazoo and probably shedding all over me. Finally got mild case of COVID a few months ago. I used Povidone nasal and throat spray, increased vit C and Zn, followed FLCC and McCullough protocol, but took 10 days to clear infection and sequelae continued for about 2 months after, but still remnant of ID reaction and I had an elevated D-Dimer. I continue on aspirin which I have been on for a few years.

The 1% iodine snort wonderfully reduced the worst of all my cold and flu symptoms over the last few years even after I had contracted and was well into the infection. I carry it in my car to teach others. Thank you so-o-o much Dr Peter. I've followed and promoted you and Dr Malone since day one.

I believe that I and my friend actually contracted COVID January 1, one month before they said that it hit NW coast. I always wondered if "Vape Lung Disease" was actually a COVID escape from Ft Detrick, inoculated on two sides of the globe? It disappeared from the news the same time COVID appeared and had the same glassy lungs and dead people on ventilators.

THANK YOU, Dr. McCullough!

Effectiveness of nasal spray as an intervention at a mucosal barrier should make us rethink the rational basis for intramuscular injection to induce any T-cell activation or respiratory immune response. Increasingly we have evidence old remedies endure because they work.

True! Mucosal immunity is what is needed as the first line of defense - and should be able to take care of invaders right there without allowing them to do damage inside ones body.

Serious question: as a singer I've heard daily gargling can DAMAGE vocal cords. Please investigate and let us know if that is a risk. Thank you.
