When I go to say, “I’m proud of my child, or myself for overcoming challenges, I stop myself and use another term, such as grateful, happy, pleased, relieved, etc. I was taught as a child and teenager to avoid pride. Pride tends to focus on oneself as great, rather than looking outwards. Even being proud of one’s country, as superior to all others, as in “God’s own country,” excludes the wonders of other countries. We can be grateful for blessings, and realise that we are blessed because of the gifts bestowed on us. The sin of pride needs to be restored to its rightful place.
Recently someone asked if we were proud to be Americans, maybe Megan Kelly. I thought about it and just like you realized it's not good to be proud but grateful. I never chose to be an American and certainly had no input in its founding. It was actually God inspiring and helping the founders that made this wonderful American experience possible. I am extremely grateful that God birthed me into an American family. And yes God is involved in other countries as well - especially as people seek Him.
Our country was a beacon of hope to my husband's parents...whose families fled Tzarist Russia when Jews were being burned alive in their synagogues....They were patriots and pro American their entire lives. This country allowed them to go from selling vegetables from a street cart to running a successful factory. My own grandfather was an orphan who received a college education because he slept in the garage of a man who hired him to take care of his lawn....a college professor...took a liking to him and sent him to college where he eventually got a Phd. I am "proud" of the things I endured to remain "unvaccinated" for three years. I feel it is an accomplishment! I am proud that I have loved and supported others in their times of need whenever it was possible for me to do so at various times in my life. That’s nice to hear. I know a lot of people today say they’re proud of this or that and I never correct them, but we can give an example by using better words to describe how pleased we feel. People will even say to me, “You must be proud of your child-children,” and I hope I always say I’m very happy or pleased. However, I remember a couple of times when people who I’ve admired have said (to my parents,) they were proud of me for taking action which was challenging and perhaps against the mainstream, easy option and I’m very thankful they told my parents about it. I think it helped to consolidate the good values they wanted to instil in us as children. This type of pride is quite different from the lasciviousness of some in the gay pride marches though.

We were never in a "Christian world"....Jesus was above all-- a revolutionary--who defied the authorities and championed the victims. This is often downplayed in our the churches who collect a lot of money for the "poor" and keep it for themselves....Priests, churches, religion is notoriously corrupt. Christ was explicit in teaching that there is no intermediary between God and salvation. One must simply ask for forgiveness to receive it. There is no biblical support or need for an organization, edifice or formality when it comes to being a Christian. So, anyone giving money to a church "on behalf of Jesus" is essentially committing a sin of stupidity and one could even argue blasphemy since that money is so often used, as you say, for corruption. Ruth, I must graciously disagree with your 2nd comment. Jesus came to establish the church as the bulwark and pillar of Truth and as those redeemed to be the salt of the earth and light of the world. Yes salvation is from the Lord alone, but there is no such thing as a biblical model of maintaining one's Christianity that is not connected to other believers. Perhaps for the short term it can function, but the believer not connected to His body becomes open to deception, and ultimately being picked off by the Devil.
For every statement of truth there must be an opposite statement that negates that truth. If other humans are necessary for one to obtain salvation then explain how others can prevent a righteous man from gaining salvation if the righteous man remains righteous.
Your statement that there is no biblical model of personally maintaining one's Christianity is blasphemy against the New Testament itself because that is exactly what Christ taught. He did not establish kings on Earth nor require others to sanction and sanctify activity. He certainly did not endorse organized religions that hoard wealth or protect sinners such as pedophiles. I never go to church. I'm indwelled with the Holy Spirit. I abide in Christ and He has given me peace beyond human understanding and victory over sin. I live alone and into the Bible everyday. The Holy Spirit never lead me to a church. I think the state of the church is bad. Not all. I study the Bible through Les Feldick Ministry and on his videos talks many times of retire ministers that confess that didn't know the Bible and only taught in
Matthew,Luke,and John. No resurrection or Apostle Paul. I've heard many minister misquote the Bible. If I found a good church I would go. For me the gay pride flag exhibits the mockery of Gods promise to the world, represented by the rainbow, that there would never be another flood, the like that was sent in Noahs time. The accusations, sadly were/ are accurate. Human sinners engage in that sin much more than is commonly admitted. Not just clergy, but people in many positions of some authority over the children, including parents!
I think people turned from the churches, not because the clergy sinned, but because THEIR superiors did nothing appropriate about those sins! They saw the utter hypocrisy of "do as I say, not as I do" in the churches, which was not what Yeshua taught; He taught us to do as He does.

The flag may be an indication that society/culture is being colonized. I am a fine artist. The arts are a monoculture in lock-step with current 'liberal' trends. There is no room for dissenters in any arts institution. Try looking for dissent... you will not find it. I am confused by the need to show flags as a way of demonstrating solidarity. It may have been something to consider when or if some kind of persecution was taking place in the world , and for that clear purpose.
At this point it portrays a kind of virtue signaling or demonstration of political alignment in an environment of intolerance and persecution by the state , state actors , and global powers. It is similar to other times where we generally agree to abhor where people put signs in shop windows or wore emblems on the chests to avoid persecution. I drove up the east coast, went through Vermont to Maine a couple of weeks ago. Most of the churches I passed up there had rainbow flags with messages such as “all are welcome”. We stayed in South Portland and there was a guy wearing a speedo, who had a beard with a Hawaiian lai around his neck doing the hula hoop in the steps of different churches in the mornings when we were taking the kids to the beach. When I go to say, “I’m proud of my child, or myself for overcoming challenges, I stop myself and use another term, such as grateful, happy, pleased, relieved, etc. I was taught as a child and teenager to avoid pride. Pride tends to focus on oneself as great, rather than looking outwards. Even being proud of one’s country, as superior to all others, as in “God’s own country,” excludes the wonders of other countries. We can be grateful for blessings, and realise that we are blessed because of the gifts bestowed on us. The sin of pride needs to be restored to its rightful place.
Recently someone asked if we were proud to be Americans, maybe Megan Kelly. I thought about it and just like you realized it's not good to be proud but grateful. I never chose to be an American and certainly had no input in its founding. It was actually God inspiring and helping the founders that made this wonderful American experience possible. I am extremely grateful that God birthed me into an American family. And yes God is involved in other countries as well - especially as people seek Him.
Our country was a beacon of hope to my husband's parents...whose families fled Tzarist Russia when Jews were being burned alive in their synagogues....They were patriots and pro American their entire lives. This country allowed them to go from selling vegetables from a street cart to running a successful factory. That’s nice to hear. I know a lot of people today say they’re proud of this or that and I never correct them, but we can give an example by using better words to describe how pleased we feel. People will even say to me, “You must be proud of your child-children,” and I hope I always say I’m very happy or pleased. However, I remember a couple of times when people who I’ve admired have said (to my parents,) they were proud of me for taking action which was challenging and perhaps against the mainstream, easy option and I’m very thankful they told my parents about it. I think it helped to consolidate the good values they wanted to instil in us as children. This type of pride is quite different from the lasciviousness of some in the gay pride marches though.

We were never in a "Christian world"....Jesus was above all-- a revolutionary--who defied the authorities and championed the victims. Christ was explicit in teaching that there is no intermediary between God and salvation. One must simply ask for forgiveness to receive it. There is no biblical support or need for an organization, edifice or formality when it comes to being a Christian. So, anyone giving money to a church "on behalf of Jesus" is essentially committing a sin of stupidity and one could even argue blasphemy since that money is so often used, as you say, for corruption. Ruth, I must graciously disagree with your 2nd comment. Jesus came to establish the church as the bulwark and pillar of Truth and as those redeemed to be the salt of the earth and light of the world. Yes salvation is from the Lord alone, but there is no such thing as a biblical model of maintaining one's Christianity that is not connected to other believers. Perhaps for the short term it can function, but the believer not connected to His body becomes open to deception, and ultimately being picked off by the Devil.
For every statement of truth there must be an opposite statement that negates that truth. If other humans are necessary for one to obtain salvation then explain how others can prevent a righteous man from gaining salvation if the righteous man remains righteous.
Your statement that there is no biblical model of personally maintaining one's Christianity is blasphemy against the New Testament itself because that is exactly what Christ taught. He did not establish kings on Earth nor require others to sanction and sanctify activity. He certainly did not endorse organized religions that hoard wealth or protect sinners such as pedophiles. I never go to church. I'm indwelled with the Holy Spirit. I abide in Christ and He has given me peace beyond human understanding and victory over sin. I live alone and into the Bible everyday. The Holy Spirit never lead me to a church. I think the state of the church is bad. Not all. I study the Bible through Les Feldick Ministry and on his videos talks many times of retire ministers that confess that didn't know the Bible and only taught in
Matthew,Luke,and John. No resurrection or Apostle Paul. I've heard many minister misquote the Bible. If I found a good church I would go. I'm thinking starting church in home for fellowship and Bible study like in the Old Testament. Remember in Acts Jesus said he was sending Holy Spirit to comfort and TEACH US ALL things! I agree and I have been thinking about the past when there were a lot of accusations about priests engaging in paedophilia and at the time I didn't question the accusations but did think it strange as to why so many people turned their back on the church when the priests were not gods, they are human and carry sin just like the rest of us. Now I am wondering if the accusations were true knowing how "the elite" throw mud at people who "they" see as being in their way - and for anyone who did turn your back on the church maybe you should think about it also
The accusations, sadly were/ are accurate. Human sinners engage in that sin much more than is commonly admitted. Not just clergy, but people in many positions of some authority over the children, including parents!
I think people turned from the churches, not because the clergy sinned, but because THEIR superiors did nothing appropriate about those sins! They saw the utter hypocrisy of "do as I say, not as I do" in the churches, which was not what Yeshua taught; He taught us to do as He does.
I guess that's one way of looking at it but some people were complaining about god and how could he let that happen to those children

Those corrupt institutions are the churches; "the Church" is the body of Christ, the collection of ALL redeemed believers from all of history... the saints who looked forward to the finished work on Calvary, as well as those who look back on it. We are not yet perfected, of course, that comes at the rapture, because sin and Yhwh cannot coexist. His righteousness precludes that. But we are bought back from the penalty of our sins by the shed blood of Yeshua, which in our current imperfection covers our sin from view.
I hope it is true....as for myself, I try to help when I can and stay out of trouble. I do not think anymore that I can "change" anyone. Except myself. Sometimes people just need a little help in one way or another. Perhaps that is what is meant by "I am my brother's keeper"....suppose your brother is just a hopeless drunk....what can you do? If I hung on a cross till hell freezes over it would not change anything for him. I am sad that people died on crosses and in all the awful ways they did and do die. But I did not do that and I refuse to be guilty about it. I have enough little things I did do wrong. Not that though. Guilt is pointless and destructive. Righting wrongs is meaningful.
It is wrong that our medical professionals poisoned millions of people. Some of them -- like Fauci-- were clearly aware of this crime as it happened.
Why don't they put him up on a cross? And why is this crime on-going....they are poisoning the children, too, as we speak. Millions of gays died of AZT decades ago....that was Fauci as well.

The flag may be an indication that society/culture is being colonized. I am a fine artist. The arts are a monoculture in lock-step with current 'liberal' trends. There is no room for dissenters in any arts institution. Try looking for dissent... you will not find it. I have been trying to start a discussion group to start conversations aimed at crossing political and philosophical barriers and there is no one to represent the 'conservative' perspective to be found. Where is that 'counter culture' we all heard about? Have the arts been colonized and coerced into submission?

In Australia anything vaguely related to arts is shrouded in rainbows - not just a flag. As you say, all art seems to be in step with the (monied) trend - not agitating against it at all.

The Gulag Archipelago is a monumental achievement and to think he wrote it on scraps of paper hidden in his cell and smuggled out of the prison. He was a giant among us! I think he came briefly to live in the states....Vermont I think and missed his homeland--did not much like us, I guess....and so went back. Russians have a great and deep culture.

This is true, but the fact that Putin is exposing that America is full of the same commies that destroyed Russia in 1917 is the key. Many Americans have emigrated to Russia and have found it like 1950s America...they say gas, land, food are cheap and the people are friendly. You have to be able to support yourself and speak Russian.
I am confused by the need to show flags as a way of demonstrating solidarity. It may have been something to consider when or if some kind of persecution was taking place in the world , and for that clear purpose.
At this point it portrays a kind of virtue signaling or demonstration of political alignment in an environment of intolerance and persecution by the state , state actors , and global powers. It is similar to other times where we generally agree to abhor where people put signs in shop windows or wore emblems on the chests to avoid persecution. It identified those that don’t conform to this practice as the enemy. And so, this flag is a representation of intolerance toward a group that do not show allegiance and submission, for whatever reason.
Some argue that such flags are symbols of acceptance of inclusion. A way of knowing that one is safe in this place.
True inclusion requires no flag, no emblem or symbol . Such a flag is a demonstration of exclusion and intolerance toward anyone or group that does not have the same beliefs.

I drove up the east coast, went through Vermont to Maine a couple of weeks ago. Most of the churches I passed up there had rainbow flags with messages such as “all are welcome”. We stayed in South Portland and there was a guy wearing a speedo, who had a beard with a Hawaiian lai around his neck doing the hula hoop in the steps of different churches in the mornings when we were taking the kids to the beach. I was tempted to ask him how much the CIA or Soros was paying him to do this.
I think a simple "all are welcome" would be enough.
