The sad thing is that the agreement that the 2 parties agreed to in April '22 under the aupecises of Erdogan of Turkey and the Israelis in Ankara, was basically the same as the Austrian one. But our bloodthirsty neo-cons and grifters had a lust of Ukrainian and Russian real estate and Johnson of the UK, supported by the Obama administration, conducted the Ukrainian coup de etat in '14 and the rest is history. So much death and misery, for nothing except money of the war profiteers and psychopaths.
The USA and NATO cannot be trusted, John. Remember the charade of the Minsk Agreement?
I say the USA gets the hell out of Europe. Let Europe take care of all the shit it has caused by itself. Monarchies and Court Jesters. It's largest challenge is the Muslim population it invited to populate it's nations.
Russia was an ally in both World Wars. It can be an economic ally in the future.
But yes, The Donald should be talking to Vlad. Get the Peace Agreement Johnson cluster fucked back on the table.
NATO's psychopathy is the only thing that has kept this war going for nearly 3 years, and probably cost over a million lives taken or destroyed - and how many other ripples?
All for the anti-Russian bloodlust buried deep in the black souls of those in power.
And for whatever darkness they were performing in or intend for Ukraine.
A common-sense solution, attainable before the fighting started, and attainable now. Once Crimea reverted to Russian control, it was inevitable that the Russian-speaking provinces would do so as well. It was always sheer folly for the U.S./EU to use Ukraine as a NATO base to conquer Russia. One more condition, in addition to those mentioned above, is de-nazification of the Ukrainian military and Government, is essential to secure the neutrality of Ukraine.
At the end of the 19th Century, my great-grandparents (German Mennonite from Ukraine) immigrated to Canada and then to the U.S. along with thousands of other German Mennonites. Today, because of them, I have relatives from Canada all the way down to Texas, a few hundred of which (amazingly) my mother has kept in touch with.
Because of this, I've followed the whole situation in Ukraine quite closely.
The whole sad, sick situation could have been headed off at the beginning (2014?) if only someone had yanked the CIA up short and hard on a choke chain and told them to quit before they started.
The way things have gone--and the damage they've done--and the way that Zelensky has turned into quite the tinpot dictator makes me sick and disgusted. It's still not too late to use that choke chain.
Absolutely John, your Pearl Harbor analogy is perfect for those having difficulty understanding the Russian’s Ministry of State’s horror for such a thought.
The United States has to rethink its entire Bomb, Bribe, and Destroy strategy. Our country can no longer finance its presence everywhere and at all times around the globe. I foresee many countries where we have bases to receive eviction notices.
I have no idea what our government gave up to those countries allowing us to maintain bases on their territory, but I think it is a safe bet that it was nothing that benefitted American citizens as much as the citizens of those countries.
"I have no idea what our government gave up to those countries allowing us to maintain bases on their territory, but I think it is a safe bet that it was nothing that benefitted American citizens as much as the citizens of those countries."
I think that now it is obvious that Russia will prevail in this conflict they intend on dictating all articles of surrender. Considering the losses suffered at the hands of the Nazis in WWll they will not allow a Nazi government to exist on their border. The betrayal by Victoria Nuland regarding the Minsk accord has probably left a deep distrust of the U.S.A. in Russian eyes. If the U.S. truly wants peace they should withdraw their support of Zelensky and mind their own business. When Russia settles their issue with Ukraine maybe then the U.S. and Russia can achieve detente if the U.S. genuinely wants it.
John, thank you for outlining this situation for us.
A quick reminder to all who have forgotten, when the Soviet Union collapsed in 1989 and the Warsaw Pact was to be dissolved, they (Russia) hammered out a deal with NATO nations that none of the former Warsaw Pact nations would be allowed to join NATO. These newly free nations were to remain neutral, a buffer zone between NATO nations and Russia. We all solemnly agreed to this pact in order for Russia to be able to peacefully emerge through the turmoil that had beset them, thus avoiding unnecessary conflicts with the west that could easily get out of control. It was a big win for all! The Cold War was finally over! No more intractable hostility between the great powers of Europe.
What happened next?
East Germany was immediately united with West Germany and therefore became part of NATO. Poland joined NATO as soon as possible, as did Hungary, the Czech Republic, and other former Warsaw Pact nations, a direct violation of the agreement we all had with Russia.
Did anybody on our side stop to think how those moves would affect Russian trust of the Western Powers?
Apparently not, because we then supported the overthrow of the Ukrainian government that was sympathetic with Russia and installed one that was openly hostile towards Russia. Ukraine, as you may remember, was part of the Soviet Union, not just a Warsaw Pact ally of the Soviet Union.
It didn’t take long after that stunt for Russia to feel they needed to do something to stop the growing threat to their sovereignty. From their perspective, the invasion of Ukraine was absolutely necessary to send a message to the West that they (primarily the US) had crossed a line that would not be tolerated.
Power politics. Words and treaties are all fine and dandy, but it’s guns that determine how well we all actually get along.
PS - the former Baltic States of the Soviet Union, Lithuania, Latvia and Estonia, did not have a long shared history with Russia. They had been more typically allied with Poland in their past. When the Baltic states rushed to join NATO it was not such a slap in the face of Russia as when Ukraine declared their hostility with Russia. That was a serious blow that could not be ignored.
The center of ancient Rus history began in Kiev and expanded north, south, and west from there. Kiev is the capital of ancient homeland of Russia, much like Jerusalem is the center of the ancient homeland of Israel. You can see why this makes such a difference in Russian response to western moves in Ukraine and western moves in the Baltic states

So, who thinks Trump has not had extensive talks with Putin already, anyone?
No need to overcook this.
Turn off the tap.
No training.
No equipment.
No funding.
No Intelligence/targeting support.
War would be over in days. If not hours.
NATO's psychopathy is the only thing that has kept this war going for nearly 3 years, and probably cost over a million lives taken or destroyed - and how many other ripples?

Great plan, John. Who's going to forward to Rubio/Trump?
I think they're already aware of the concept, if not these specifics.
I used to think they weren't poisoning our food to make us sick..."𝐛𝐮𝐭" this changed everything.... https://t.co/L2gj9onBci
Aww man! Report & block! ^^

Dissolution of NATO needs to happen, stat.
It is a noose, not a shield.
Peace.
Absolutely. And the US love to poke the bear by threatening NATO forces in Ukraine.
The USA needs to get out and stay at out of Ukraine.

It is sad that it didn't happen decades ago.

I'm sure we used coercion and threats.

Great plan for talks was proposed in December 2021 by Russia: draft Treaty with the US and draft Agreement with NATO. There is no other plan, guys 😀
I think it is just as simple as STOP NATO expansion!!!
What would the USA do if any other country built military bases on our neighboring countries soil?
Get ALL American military, CIA etc out of Ukraine
Get the war mongers out of the political system
Stop sending money for any military use in Ukraine
Tell NATO where to go

A lovely idea if only Politicians lived up to their promises, agreements, handshakes or whatever.
Remember the Minsk agreement?
Why wouldn’t we keep it simple and let Russia have the land east of the Dnipro River. It sure looks like a natural boundary to me.
So, who thinks Trump has not had extensive talks with Putin already, anyone?
