I am just an old country family doc, but I do remember that people smarter and more knowledgeable about these things have said that you should never vaccinate into/ in the middle of an outbreak (avoiding the terms epidemic and pandemic intentionally) as one speeds the emergence of resistant variants (not sure if that is on the basis of experience (likely) or theory—which makes sense to me. Those arguing against the policy were not incentivized in any way, as were the mistaken policy makers.
I am not sure what type of evidence you are looking for, but RCTs are not possible in this situation. I also don’t believe that Dr. McC is asserting that the omicron variant specifically was selected out of the infinite universe of possible variants.

The introduction of pneumococcal vaccination and Hib vaccines markedly changed the practice of pediatrics as they decreased the incidence of pediatric bacterial sepsis and bacterial meningitis, decreasing the need for hospitalization, spinal taps and courses of intravenous antibiotics while awaiting the results of cultures. I experienced the changes in practice. Of the 72 to 90 shots that kids get that are currently being rightly questioned, this is one that IMHO has some justification. Could it/Would it be better formulated without the aluminum adjuvant, undoubtably. Is it worth the trade off of risk for life long autism, probably not, but 1/3 of children that get bacterial meningitis die in spite of treatment and 1/3 are left with some degree of neurologic damage, according to statistics current at the time, so I take partial objection to your post.

Yes, indeed it is, and I was naively complicit for the duration of my career, but skeptical of the value (leaving aside the important issues of long term side effects) of the vaccines against the ‘usual childhood diseases’. Having had a belated education starting with ‘Turtles all the way down’ and presentations @ FLCCC conferences, I regret not being more skeptical & not doing more research. And I agree with you about vaccine schedule needing to be re-examined, but doubt that it will be.
Educated recommendations have been made by a few pediatricians (names not on the tip of my tongue now) and I am comfortable with parents electing to not vaccinate their children, as I always have been, or selectively vaccinating their children.
