Right. During devastating wildfires in my county, the public health department didn't use their Facebook page or any other means to tell people how to build a great smoke filter simply by taping a smoke-rated furnace filter to the back of a "box fan." Easy, cheap, and very effective!

I was in Delhi India in November. The air quality was 480 to 490 on the 0-500 scale you use here. This was normal for that city, and nobody paid any attention to it. But on the last day I was there they kept the kids home from school it got so bad.

The video of a couple walking horses down a road out of the fire n smoke. They were wearing masks. The horses were not and the horse respiratory system is very delicate. Those horses may have made it out of the flames, but they will suffer debilitating lung issues.
