The pandemic years were very tough on young mothers as they were tossed out of work and thrust into the role of home educator and pandemic manager with seniors falling seriously ill with COVID-19, minor infections in husbands and children, and a long list of other medical urgencies along the way.

I took time to sit down with super-mom and media host Miriam Shaw from the very popular Moms on a Mission Podcast to do an end-of-the year review and give some pointers on the Emergency Medical Kit and the COVID (Pandemic Kit) offered by The Wellness Company. You get a free membership and deep discounts if you sign up through Courageous Discourse PROMO Code COURAGE.

Here is some more background on Miriam Shaw and Julie Woolslayer of the Moms on a Mission Podcast:

ā€œMiriam Shaw grew up a pastorā€™s daughter. Julie Woolslayer, a judgeā€™s daughter. Both grew up with a strong Biblical worldview, conservative Christian family values, and immense respect for education and hard work. Both are passionate about the ministry of motherhood. In the fall of 2021, they met at a school board meeting and realized they were on the same mission: They were two moms seeking TRUTH!

Miriam graduated from Oral Roberts University and had a short career in behavioral health. She then transitioned to pharmaceutical sales and was a top selling pharmaceutical representative. Later, she became a highly successful real estate salesperson for her family company, Shaw Homes.

Julie graduated as an undergraduate from the University of Tulsa and earned a graduate degree from the University of Houston. She had a brief career in broadcast journalism and then focused her time in the health and wellness industry where she concentrated on health education, fitness instruction and lifestyle medicine. Julie was also a small business owner. For five years, she and her husband owned a successful moving, delivery and storage company.

After spending several years focusing on their careers God called Miriam and Julie to the ministry of motherhood. The mom job took priority and both became full time moms. Great education was a priority and both Miriam and Julie wanted their children to receive a solid Christian education focused on a Biblical worldview. In the fall of 2021, they met at a school board meeting where they found themselves aligned with other parents. Initially advocating for medical freedom for students, they later discovered the need for curriculum transparency to ensure implementation of a Biblical worldview. Very quickly they found themselves attending the same meetings and mom gatherings. They decided it was time to take a more active role in advocating for issues affecting the students at their local schools and citizens of their city and state.

Since 2021 they have joined forces with other like minded moms and have been highly active in their local school board and city council races as well as policy making decisions. Along with many other dedicated moms and citizens, in August of 2021 they petitioned city hall and worked with city councilors to vote yes on revoking a city wide mask mandate. In addition they fought to push back against the implementation of the police oversight committee also known as Office of Independent Monitoring. Both Miriam and Julie support our men and women in Blue and felt OIM would be a detriment to the police department and the city at large.ā€
